In a somewhat sloppy defensive game on Tuesday afternoon, Baldwinville beat Liverpool at OCC, 12-9.

Uncharacteristically, the Bees made four errors on the afternoon and Liverpool made three, resulting in a number of unearned runs scoring in the game. Baldwinsville was able to emerge victorious with some timely hits and a big inning.

In the top of the first, the Bees got started as Jacob Penafeather reached on an error, Aiden Milburn stroked a double down the left field line, and Braden Seeber was hit by a pitch, to load the bases. Penafeather then scored on a passed ball to get the scoring started. Then, Gavin Miller lined a triple to the right center gap, scoring Milburn and Seeber. The inning ended with Miller stranded at third on a strikeout and a groundout. The Bees led 3-0.

Liverpool responded immediately in the bottom of the first off starter Joe Warner on a couple of singles, a hit batsman, and an error, which scored three runs, two of them earned. The score was tied 3-3.

The Bees tacked one on in the top of the second. Joe Gennario singled up the middle and Logan McIntyre, who had two hits on the day, doubled to right. Gennario scored on a wild pitch. The Bees led 4-3.

Warner settled in and went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the second to preserve the lead.

In the top of the third, the Bees exploded for six runs. Seeber reached on an error, Miller walked, and Reid Rachwal singled on a bunt to third base. The Liverpool pitcher threw the ball wide to first, allowing Seeber to score. Nate Georger then laced a single to left, bringing home Miller in the process. Gennario was hit by a pitch to load the bases and McIntyre and Leonard walked to bring home two more runs. Penafeather then did his job and hit a long fly ball to center to bring home Gennario on a sacrifice fly; however, McIntyre was doubled off second base when he got too far off the base. A single by Seeber brought home Leonard for the tenth run of the game and the Bees held a commanding lead, 10-3.

In the bottom of the third, Warner got himself into some trouble with some walks and a hit-by-pitch, but he was able to escape the inning unscathed on a pop up to Rachwal.

The fourth inning was uneventful as both teams went down 1-2-3, with Alex Curry taking over pitching duties from Warner.

In the fifth, the Bees added two more insurance runs as McIntyre singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Leonard then got on base on an error by the third baseman, which allowed McIntyre to score. After stealing third with one out, Leonard scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Milburn. The Bees extended their lead to 12-3.

That lead was not entirely safe. In the bottom of the inning, Liverpool added two unearned runs off Curry after an error. In the sixth, Liverpool tripled and singled to score another run off reliever Caleb Way. Then, in the seventh, Liverpool took advantage of some more sloppy defense, as they scored three runs off reliever Nate Georger, only one of them earned.

Despite the sloppy ending to the game, the Bees prevailed 12-9 and moved to 4-0 on the season. The Bees play next on Thursday at Cicero-North Syracuse.
