The Bees varsity baseball team rode the arms of Aiden Milburn and Reid Rachwal and the bats of Milburn and Braden Seeber to defeat F-M, 6-3, on the road on Thursday afternoon.

Josh Leonard led off the first inning with a walk and scored on an errant pickoff throw to first by the pitcher, which allowed Leonard to get all the way to third and eventually score on a bad throw by the first baseman.

With one out, Milburn tacked on another with a bomb to left field that cleared the fence and made the score 2-0. With the homerun, Milburn started the year 6 for 6, after going 5 for 5 at Central Square.

The Bees extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third, as Seeber, who had doubled in the first inning, started the inning with a triple that barely missed going out, hitting the left-center wall. Rachwal brought Seeber home one out later with a fly ball, sacrifice fly to left field.

In the top of the fourth, Baldwinsville again extended its lead, as Logan McIntyre reached on an error, Leonard was hit by a pitch, and McIntyre, who had advanced to third on a wild pitch, was driven home on a sacrifice fly by Milburn. One batter later, Seeber singled to bring home Leonard to make the score 5-0.

F-M struggled to get anything going against Milburn but finally touched him for two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth on a single, a passed ball, and an error, which allowed one run to score, and with two outs, a single that allowed the runner who reached on the error to score. The score was now 5-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, after a double and an out, Milburn was lifted for relief pitcher Rachwal. A single allowed one earned run to score before Rachwal forced a double play to end the inning with the score 5-3.

The Bees got an insurance run in the top of the seventh with Gavin Miller's first career homerun, a bomb to right field from the lefty batter.

Rachwal secured the save in the bottom of the seventh and the Bees increased its record to 2-0 on the young season.

Milburn earned the win with a 4 1/3 inning performance, yielding five hits and one earned run with two walks and six strikeouts. Rachwal earned the save.

On the offensive end, Milburn had two hits and two RBI, Seeber had three hits and an RBI, while Rachwal and Miller each had an RBI. Milburn and Miller had homeruns on the day.

The Bees next play Liverpool at home on Monday afternoon.
