The Baldwinsville baseball seniors had a reason to celebrate on Saturday, as they cruised to an 8-2 victory over visiting Oswego on Senior Day.
Oswego scored first in the opening frame on a couple of hits off starting senior, Nate Valentine, but the Bees responded with one of their own in the bottom of the first, as senior Anthony May singled and stole second and then scored on a single by Cam Williams.
In the bottom of the third, B'ville exploded and opened the game up with six hits and seven runs. Senior Zach Bush singled to start the inning and May followed with one of his own. After a stolen base, another senior, Carson Hayes singled home Bush and May. After Cam Williams was hit by a pitch and senior Jarrod Williams singled, senior Alex Robinson doubled home Hayes and C. Williams. Frank Levanti then walked for the second time in the game and senior David Cerqua brought a run home with a fielder's choice. After senior Tommy McKee was hit by a pitch, Bush finished the scoring in the inning with a 2 RBI double, his second hit in the inning, to make the score 8-2.
That score would prove to the final score, as both offenses were relatively shut down by each team's pitchers from that point on.
Bush and May finished with two hits in the game, while Hayes, C. Williams, J. Williams, Robinson, and McKee added hits of their own.
Valentine pitched two innings, striking out three. Jason Savacool finished the third and fourth innings, earning the win in the game and striking out three, while yielding one hit. Cameron Morrissey pitched two perfect innings, surrendering no hits, while striking out three. And Hayes finished the last inning, surrendering two hits but no runs, while striking out one.
The Bees will wait until Sunday to find out their sectional match-up, which will likely take place on Tuesday.
