In what could be considered one of the best team efforts of the year, the Baldwinsville Bees baseball team came up big and won a road contest against Liverpool on Tuesday afternoon, 7-2.

Things didn't start that way.  In the first four innings, the Bees offense was as it had been for several games: unproductive.  The Bees only had one hit--a double by Carson Hayes and everyone else was retired in order.  In addition, the Liverpool team scored two runs on a homerun in the second inning and on a couple of singles, a walk, and a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

But the offense came alive in the top of the fifth.  With one out, Zach Bush started the inning with a single and David Cerqua followed with one of his own on a hit-and-run, which brought Bush to third.  Tommy McKee then had a long at-bat and worked a walk off of the Liverpool starter.  Matt Mecurio put the Bees on the board with a single to right field that scored Bush.

Cam Williams and Anthony May then both singled home runs, and with two outs, Mercurio scored on a wild pitch and Jarrod Williams singled up the middle to score C. Williams and May.  By the time they were done, B'ville led 6-2.

Baldwinsville starting pitcher Cameron Morrissey settled down and pitched the next three innings downing each hitter in order, recording four strikeouts in those innings, resulting in a total of six for the game.  Meanwhile, he only allowed four hits and two runs.

The Bees added an insurance run in the seventh as May singled, stole second, went to third on a single by Hayes, and scored on a double play ball hit by J. Williams.

The final score was 7-2.

May, Hayes, and Bush finished with two hits each, while Cam Williams, Jarrod Williams, Cerqua, and Mercurio each added one hit.

The Bees next play on Wednesday against Corning at home and then play Liverpool in the rubber match on Thursday afternoon, at home.
