Cody Kaestle pitched another gem on Thursday to help the Bees advance in sectionals against West Genesee.

The first inning of Thursday's game against West Genesee didn't seem to start off the way the Bees would have liked.  After not scoring in the top of the inning, Cody Kaestle gave up two hits and one run in the bottom half of the frame.

But that was all Kaestle would yield.

In fact, Kaestle seemed to get stronger as the game progressed.  In the second and third innings, he pitched out of jams, after having given up a total of five hits through the first three innings.  But in the fourth inning, after walking the first batter, Kaestle retired the next twelve batters in a row, keeping West Genesee hitters off balance with fastballs and off speed pitches.  Kaestle's defense was strong behind him, making no errors through the rest of the game.

In the top of the second inning, the Bees responded offensively to the Wildcats' one run.  And it was all done with two outs.

Cam Williams started it off with a single and Jarrod Williams reached on an error by the third baseman.  Nate Johns then walked to load the bases.  On a 3-1 count with bases loaded, Tommy McKee took a high ball and forced home a run with the walk.  Zach Bush then singled home a second run and the Bees had a 2-1 lead that they would hold for the entire game.

In the game, Cam Williams and Zach Bush each had two hits, Alex Robinson had a double and David Cerqua added a single.

Kaestle finished yielding only one run on five strikeouts and five hits.

Perhaps most satisfying about the win for the Bees was the fact that West Genesee had knocked the Bees out of the sectionals last year.  The Bees returned the favor this year.

Baldwinsville will now face #1 seed Liverpool in the semifinals on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Onondaga Community College.
