For the second straight game, the Bees jumped out to a lead in the first inning and kept the pressure on, beating Syracuse 11-3 at Van Duyn Field on Monday.
The Bees started the game with two infield singles by Anthony May and Carson Hayes and a hit-by-pitch by Alex Robinson. Hayes' hit brought in May for the first run of the frame. Cam Williams then tripled to right center, bringing home Robinson and Hayes, and Williams scored on the same play on a throwing error by the centerfielder.
Baldwinsville added another run in the fifth inning as May was hit by a pitch, stole second base, and scored on a double to right center by Hayes.
Syracuse scored two runs in the sixth inning on a couple of walks, a groundout, and a single.
The Bees, however, responded in the top of the seventh and batted around on the Syracuse relievers. May singled, Clifford walked, and pinch hitter Keenan Nellis drove in the first run with a single. Hayes then walked, setting up Williams to hit a line drive sacrifice fly to center to score Clifford. David Cerqua singled home another run and pinch hitter Dan Rabe loaded the bases with another single. After the second out, Zach Bush singled to bring home Hayes and Cerqua. May walked in his second at-bat in the inning and Clifford walked home a run as well. In all, the Bees scored six runs in the seventh to increase the lead to 11-2.
Syracuse finished the scoring with one run in the seventh.
Cody Kaestle pitched six innings and gave up only two runs on three hits, while Jarrod Williams finished off the seventh inning, giving up one run on one hit.
May and Hayes finished with two hits each, while Cam Williams added a triple and sacrifice fly and three RBIs in the game. The Bees finished with 11 hits.
