Back-to-Back HRs but with a Twist
Back-to-back homeruns are difficult enough in a baseball game, let alone a high school baseball game! But in 2001, two Baldwinsville players did something that wound up in the National High School Sports Record Book, published by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
On May 7, 2001, junior Dennis Wellman and senior Tom Lilienthal hit back-to-back homeruns... TWICE... IN THE SAME INNING! In the third inning of a game against Corcoran, Wellman and Lilienthal connected on two homeruns each, in back-to-back fashion. The outburst propelled the Bees past Corcoran by a final score of 17-6.
